Mike Mataragas tackles MARS doubleheader at Brownstown and Peoria
Mike Mataragas made his first start of the season with the MARS Late Model Championship Series this past weekend, as the growing tour kicked off its 2026 campaign at Brownstown Speedway for the Seivers JCB Diggin’ Dirt 40.
After a sixth-place finish in his heat race, Mataragas secured the final transfer spot in his B-Main to advance into the feature. He went on to gain five positions in the 35-lap main event, finishing 14th.
Mataragas then traveled to Peoria Speedway on Saturday for the Garry Swibold Memorial, but made an early exit from the $5,098-to-win feature after pulling off on lap 29.
